wot tak https://architectureukraine.org/resident/wot-tak/ Fri, 31 Jul 2015 09:22:04 +0000 https://izolyatsia.org/au/?post_type=resident&p=608 Сolleсtiv wot tak (Germany) consists of 4 members — Anna Bajanova (Kyrgyzstan), Martha Dyachenko (Ukraine), Mitya Churikov (Ukraine) and Eric Zapel (USA). The group specializes in developing a social and architectural projects in the area of renewable energies, and applying them in the real world. In particular, kollektiv wot tak is interested in the concept of autonomy. Complete or partial autonomy implies individual or collective independence from external entities or resources. This autonomy can facilitate the overcoming of volatile periods in the development of society caused by inflation and deficit in crisis regions, where there is always damage to the communication systems, the delivery of food and fuel. In particular, the researchers want to focus on a model house in Mariupol. They will develop a series of innovations that will allow residents to cover their own basic needs for food and fuel, to reduce heat loss in the cold season and to prevent overheating of buildings in summer. The authors emphasise that all developments are low-budget, and that common household items are sufficient to implement them.

Her research is focusing on architecture as contingency, as it conceived in its social and political implications. Starting from this, Lucia aims to investigate on the nature of the architectural practice in relation with the recalibration of the urban praxis believing in the necessity of a continuous spatial research. Exploring this perspective, Lucia works in-between the process of re-thinking the traditional discipline of architecture and the notion of borders at the territorial scale as a spatial and virtual praxis of division – and thus as a prototype of biopolitical architecture. Recently, Lucia has experience of working in Palestine and Cambodia. The project aims to reveal as the spatial structure for the city planning process can be subverted allowing to reconfigure new ground of relations and new public and common functions.

Fulco Treffers https://architectureukraine.org/resident/fulco-treffers/ Fri, 31 Jul 2015 09:16:37 +0000 https://izolyatsia.org/au/?post_type=resident&p=604 Fulco Treffers is an architect and urban researcher from the Netherlands. He is the founder of 12N, a studio of urban design. His works are mostly connected with city development and social housing. During the residence program in Mariupol the architect will work with the “camp” concept. Fulco believes that the term has several meanings. In particular, Fulco refers to the tourists tradition of the city of Mariupol and the coastline of the Azov Sea. On the other hand, the concept is connected to military operations in the ATO zone and the fact that Mariupol hosts refugees from other cities affected by the war. Thus, the term ‘camp’ attains a militaristic character. At the end of the research Fulco will devise a line of camp (meeting places) sites which will “defend the city” with social and cultural means.
